Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce
Village for Babies Research shows the more you expose your baby to nursery rhymes and songs, the stronger those emerging language-learning skills will be. That's why these Mother Goose-like stories and rhymes are the main theme of this 5-week Kindermusik session. With a home CD of recordings from class and weekly developmental information in your home journal, you'll develop research-proven communication strategies with your child through listening activities, speaking "parentese," and sign language. $100.00 Sign & Sign Session A: Everyday items around the house—a ball, bubbles, mom and dad—become the objects of learning in the classroom and at home. You’ll teach parents the sign language methods of the experts, such as making the sign in front of a child, on a child’s body, and knowing when a child is most engaged and ready to learn. 5 weeks $100.00 Fiddle-dee-dee for toddlers We'll meet many animal characters this semester in our books, activities, and songs—each specifically chosen for a toddler's emerging interests and physical skills. With silly, bumpy lap bounces we'll help your child develop rhythm while further developing his ever-emerging language skills. With a special stringed-emphasis in the music from class, you can bring home the violin, cello, and orchestra sounds to help your toddler stay a happy and engaged learner at home, too. 15 week session $235.00 Musical Imaginings for preschoolers A piano and the well-known composer, J.S. Bach, help your preschool get ready for school this month. The answer is right at the tip of your fingers. The same fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination your preschooler needs to hold a pencil—are developed through the special keyboard-playing activities we’ll be playing in class. We’ll learn from the best “hand-eye” coordination composers with music penned from world famous composers, such as J.S. Bach. Mozart and math? With exposure to singing and music notation this month, children get more experience with abstract symbols. In class explore how abstract thoughts, like music, is shared and communicated with a symbol, such as a musical note. This same abstract thinking process helps children comprehend the idea behind the letters of the alphabet and numbers.Up in the Sky - In this class, your child will read a story about a boy who wants to take over the reigns of the family kite. Then grab a scarf or handkerchief and imitate the up and down, crouching, reaching, and running associated with flying a kite—just like the boy in the story. The Student Kit includes activities you can easily incorporate into your day to reinforce our counting and color-learning activities in class. Your CD includes songs you can sing to the sky, too: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” and “Mr. Sun,” while learning colors and more. Includes 3 CD's, 2 instruments and more! 12 week session. $230.00 Young Child Semester 4 In this final semester we'll introduce the recorder instrument. As your child is introduced to basic methods of playing simple melodic patterns and songs on this wind instrument, we'll also incorporate the instruments, concepts, and songs from previous semesters. With a special emphasis on multi-cultural music, your child will learn to improvise and write music, as well as experience the musical styles of the Pacific Islands, Europe, Bach, and Africa; plus play special dances and children's games from around the world, including Alpine dances, Mexico, and Ecuador. $275.00 Family Time Moving and Grooving - Movin’ & Groovin’ is a romping, rolling, stretching good time for the whole family. This ten-lesson unit of Family Time will explore lots of different ways to move—high and low, fast and slow, zigzag, curvy, and more. Family members will chug around the classroom like trains, clip-clop like horses, and roll over like puppy dogs. They’ll hear a story about playing tag together in Can You Catch Me?, and read about a jungle hokey-pokey in Put Your Left Paw In. Show your best groovin’ moves—it’s time for Movin’ & Groovin’. $235.00 up to two children under the age of 8. Additional children need only purchase their instrument for $25.00 |
